Doñana nature laboratory
Finca Coto Ibarra, Ctra. A-494, Km. 49.5. 21760 Matalascañas - Almonte (Matalascañas)
This nature laboratory is located on the property of El Acebuche, some two kilometres from Matalascañas. It is built following the design of the woodland settlements of the region. Its use is limited to organisations and centres with educational activities of a non-commercial nature. The El Acebuche property is also home to the centre for captive breeding of threatened species of fauna such as the Iberian lynx, and the centre for recuperation of woodland fauna. In these surroundings visitors can discover the biodiversity found in these lands, from the wetlands with a multitude of bird and plant species, to the Mediterranean scrubland which is the habitat of the Iberian lynx and the extensive umbrella pine woods, by way of the dunes, the marshes and the imposing escarpment of the Asperillo. All of this is part of an anthropological vision which lays stress on the traditional practices of agriculture and animal husbandry.
